I natural stone cladding for walls or masonry can be of two types: traditional or of modern conception.

  • In the traditional coatings, the sheared stone pieces are laid on top of each other, with cementitious mortar between the elements. This system is widely used not only in buildings, but also for retaining walls e waterworks.

  • In the modern coverings, on the other hand, stone slabs of reduced thickness, attached to the walls with glues or via mechanical systems.

Any kind of stone can be used in cladding. Lo minimum thickness obtainable depends on both the manufacturing process, both from the natural properties Of the stone.

Le natural stones are also used to make finishing elements interiors and exteriors, such as stair treads and risers, covers and frames.

As for the natural stone paving, there are several types. A classification can be made according to the geometric shape of the elements that make them up, distinguishing three main categories:

  • Pavements

  • Cobblestones
